Yoga at Work

“Yoga is nothing if it is not perfect harmony... peace in the body gives poise in the mind” - B.K.S Iyengar

Yoga at work provides a beneficial, convenient and uplifting break in the day. It allows a moment to totally immerse into something other than work, the confines of a desk and the constant swirl of work related chat. Whatever type of work you do yoga in the workplace can be part of a positive work environment and is very much appreciated. The freedom given by the postures (asanas) relieves the tensions and stiffness of the body commonly associated with long periods working at a desk or computer. This is one of the main benefits of regular practice at work. The ever active brain is given the opportunity to switch off for a moment during this time, allowing staff to return to work feeling calm, focused and energised.

As part of her post graduate studies Camilla wrote a thesis entitled ‘Stress and the Benefits of Yoga in the Workplace’. This research informs how we teach yoga at work.

Classes are held during the early morning, lunch-time or after work. Courses run for 8 weeks and can be taken once, twice or three times a week.

Staff development

Staff Development days in schools, colleges, universities and the workplace are available as an intensive way to look at how yoga can be beneficial to aid general concentration, posture and help to combat the strains of the working day.  The day consists of a yoga workshop, massage and relaxation techniques at work.

Massage at Work

Our bodies are designed to move and in the modern workplace often they don’t. It is well known that maximum efficiency in the workplace can only be sustained with frequent breaks. Even if this is done with the modern pressures of working many people experience neck and shoulder problems from continued work at computers and this can lead to headaches and other problems.

Massage at work offers a quick and convenient way to break this cycle and can offer an opportunity for you to return to work feeling mentally and physically reinvigorated for the day.

  • The massage is conducted through clothes so no messy oil is used and the client does not need to undress.
  • Sessions can be tailor-made to the client. Options can be chosen between 15, 20, and 30 minutes for a massage.
  • The massage is conducted on a specially designed chair and focuses on the upper body, neck and shoulder areas.
  • Yoga poses or Qi gong exercises are given as a complement treatment to the massage to help in the relief of symptoms.
